Anyone who’s experienced the death of a family member or friend is invited to attend GriefShare: FPC's new weekly support group for people grieving the death of someone close. At GriefShare, we will provide a positive, caring environment for a person suffering a loss to learn how to handle the range of emotions and challenges that come when a loved one dies. We will also share practical information to help each other through this difficult time in your life.
Through each GriefShare session you will find encouragement and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one's death, it will offer an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and how to cope with the normal emotions that come when grieving a death. You will learn valuable information on facing life situations, and you'll gain renewed hope for the future. These sessions are open to any adult regardless of whether your experience is recent or not so recent.
GriefShare is a nondenominational, Christian support group intent upon helping people who are dealing with a loved one's death. At each session, we will watch a DVD on topics such as “The Effects of Grief,” “God’s Prescription for Grief” and “Heaven.” Following each DVD, the Rev. Kellie Anderson-Picallo will lead the group in a discussion about the topics presented. More information about the weekly topics can be found on the GriefShare website (www.griefshare.org). While you are on the website, we encourage you to sign up for the free daily email devotions. They are both informative and comforting.
For additional information and to register, please contact the church at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at 201.568.7373, ext 0. There is no charge to participate in GriefShare.
