The start of a lifelong journey of faith

What is baptism?

Baptism is a sign of our relationship with God. The Presbyterian Church practices infant baptism. Children at any age may be presented for baptism by a parent. Our official statement on baptism is that it should take place "without undue haste nor undue delay." Generally speaking, most parents wait until their child has received their vaccination series but usually within the first year.

In our tradition, baptism always takes place in the context of a regular Sunday morning worship service. We have a contemporary service at 9 am and a more traditional service at 11 am.

Requirements (not many!)

We do not require the parents to be a member of FPCE, although we would welcome you as members! At least one of the parents presenting the child must profess faith in Jesus Christ. We do not have a formal designation of godparents, though persons in that role are welcome to stand with the parents for the ceremony. There are no costs or financial obligations associated with the baptism.

How to proceed?

The process is simple. If you are interested in having your child baptized, please email Pastor Rich for an introductory discussion. We generally ask that you provide two choices for preferred Sundays for the baptism. We look forward to hearing from you!
