Baptism is a sacrament of the church. Presbyterians practice infant baptism, where the child's parent or guardian affirms the promise to raise the child to be a follower of Jesus. When your child reaches the 8th or 9th grade, we then offer the opportunity for him/her to be confirmed. Confirmation is when the child confirms the baptismal promise by proclaiming faith in Jesus Christ for him/herself.

Because baptism is the act of welcoming the child into the household of faith, baptisms in the Presbyterian tradition are ordinarily performed only in the context of a regular worship service where the congregation is present. If you are interested in exploring the possibility of having your child baptized at First Presbyterian Church, please send an email to Rev. Hong at and he will be happy to schedule a time to discuss your child's baptism.

Due to the tragic fire we experienced, we cannot book sanctuary weddings at this time.

We expect that our new sanctuary will be constructed some time in 2019. Our pastoral staff may be available for off-site weddings. Members may choose to be married in Elmore Hall, our alternative worship location.
